Dear Editor,
The Friday before Christmas, a community-minded friend invited people from the neighbourhood to gather in front of her house for carol singing.
A heat lamp prevented frozen toes and fingers, hot apple cider relaxed the larynx and a drummer kept the beat with his brush.
It was a magical evening.
I bet I wasn’t the only one who returned home with a vision of similar carol-singing groups popping up all over our city in future years.
Such events have the power to bring us together, regardless of age, faith, nationality, politics or language.
