Dear Editor,
Re: “Habitual rescuer saves again,” News, Aug. 9.
Kudos and karma credits to Jeff Rai for his efforts to save animals hit along No. 5 Road.
Many times when an animal is struck by a vehicle, they are not dead, and other vehicles swerve to avoid them, which could likely cause another accident.
I live on No. 5 Road and slowing down to enter my driveway oftentimes feels as if I’m taking my life into my own hands.
Something absolutely needs to be done about the speeding vehicles on this stretch of road.
Last, but certainly not least, if you hit an animal, it is your responsibility to stop and help it or move it to the side of the road if the accident was fatal.
Animals sense fear and pain, just as we do.
