Dear Editor,
An incident like this one may happen every day in the city. This time around, it was thought-provoking to me.
Time: Before noon; Place: Cook Road, leading to No. 3 Road; Who: A bus driver, a mature-looking lady and an elderly gentleman.
It was drizzling as a bus stopped to let people get on.
From a distance, an elderly gentleman was seen quickening his pace in order to catch the bus. A lady waved to the gentleman to hurry up, and talked to the driver, probably asking him to wait for the gentleman.
For a short duration, the bus stayed there, waiting, and then, just as the gentleman was about to reach it, the bus pulled off and went away. What was heard from the mouth of the lady was something like, “He cannot wait any longer, that’s what he said.” Then, the elderly gentleman smiled a little.
He didn’t appear to be angry; he didn’t say any bad words. I think he forgave the driver and appreciated the woman’s efforts. The scene was slightly touching.
