Kind efforts find lost bag

The Editor,

In the rush to board the bus at Moncton and No. 2 Rd., I left my backpack on the bench.

It was one of those drivers who lurches away from the stop before everyone can sit down.

I was struggling to hang on; no one else noticed what I had done either.

I did not realize my folly until rising to get off the SkyTrain at Waterfront.

By then, I assumed that I had left the backpack on the bus.

Needless to say, checking with TransLink Lost and Found produced no results. The backpack was loaded with keys and other things that would be costly and time-consuming to replace.

Thanks so much to the anonymous good Samaritan who kindly took my backpack promptly to the Steveston Community Police Station.

Although there was no explicit ID in the bag, they cleverly deciphered a few clues and tracked me down! To express my gratitude, I'll be making a donation to the Steveston Community Centre in honour of the spirit of community that I have enjoyed while visiting your fair town.
