Healing hospital care puts patients in good hands

The Editor,

December 24 was the morning I went to emergency at Richmond Hospital.

Having a heart beat of 190 sealed my fate that I was staying awhile. So began my week-long adventure in Richmond's hospital.

Allowing time to care is how this facility is directed. From the front doors of emergency to the food cart lady, who I always asked if she personally cooked my steak, I would receive a warm, smiley face.

From the cries of a lost soul in the middle of the night came that soft, reassuring voice that everything is okay.

From that mistake that I couldn't make the toilet came the words of reassurance that it was not a big deal.

There is a feeling of belonging here. Only words of praise in how things are getting better are spoken. Concern that I may help to make things better for you.

This staff is not aware that they are automatically healing people and not even trying. The whole environment is healthy and alive. You couldn't hand pick a better team.

I am so proud of what I experienced from a hospital that I actually miss it. The formula that has been put in place for these wonderful people is one of great success and caring.

The 2nd South Wing sounds like a battle brigade, it is, a battle of how we can all learn life's little steps of healing and happiness.

Thank you all so much for one of those life memories. You people are so gifted.

And to the people of Richmond, you are in good hands.
