The Editor,

A belated letter to express my thanks and appreciation to the "C" shift at # 1 Fire Hall in Richmond.

On Dec. 23 at 11 a.m. I was on Granville Avenue driving west on my way to visit my wife at Richmond Hospital. At the light on Gilbert Road my car broke down. Being handicapped, I had trouble getting out and opening the hood. A gentleman asked me if I needed help. While talking, I noticed a group of firefighters coming to help. They pushed my car to the Fire Hall parking lot.

I asked if I could use their phone to call BCAA for a battery. I was told by BCAA it would be a one to two hour wait. I told the firefighters I was worried about my wife and asked if I could leave my car there, as I would get my walker and walk to the hospital. A fireman said, "Hold it. I will be right back."

Back he came and told me they would get my walker, put it in the chief's car and take me to see my wife.

I know it's late, but it's never too late to offer thanks and gratitude for such kindness. So to "C" shift and all you firefighters, I wish you a safe and happy new year and may you always walk in the sun. Also, thanks to the staff on 4 North and Ron Laing at Opertune Auto
