Follow Arnie's lead to next election

The Editor,

Arnold Schwarzenegger made a speech some time ago in which he said "the biggest hindrance to progress in any government are political parties.

"Competent men and women, due to party allegiances, spend time, energy and money opposing each other while trying to attain the same goal.''

We are facing an election here next year and we can expect the same-old-same-old all over again.

Whichever party gets elected, making the same false promises will make the same screw-ups as the previous government with the same excuses.

The usual is "the books are in a worse state than we were led to believe."

It is so tiresome and blatantly dishonest. I am an old timer and I have heard the same old rhetoric, time and again.

Making promises they know they cannot keep and, after getting elected, they will follow the path most lightly to get them reelected.

I have come to the conclusion that the voters should listen closely to the speeches and debates leading up to the election and it is not difficult to determine if the prospective candidate would be the best on display to represent your riding in the upcoming election.

It is not rocket science to determine who would serve your needs regardless of which party they claim to represent.

If the ones on display in my riding are substandard, then I won't vote for any of them.
