Consider longtime residents before building

The Editor,

The new houses being built around Richmond seem to be getting bigger more outrageous.

I live in a 45-year-old townhouse. My parents bought it because it has a south facing backyard that gets lots of sun. However, the house behind us was recently knocked down and a huge three-story house has been built. We now have lost our sunlight and privacy.

This house I am talking about is only one of many new homes that are changing the appearance of Richmond. I know some cities have rules about the size and style of houses. By not having such guidelines or enforcing them, city hall is allowing our city to be changed without considering how it will affect people that have lived here for many years.
