Re: "Residents want small planes relocated," News, Nov. 9. Why is it a City of Richmond priority to ban small aircrafts from the Vancouver International Airport?

Small planes using the south terminal and the seaplane base are a vital link between Vancouver and the rest of B.C. People flying from small communities need to arrive at the Vancouver airport, not Abbotsford or Boundary Bay.

If you had to come to Vancouver for medical care, or were in transit to another destination, how would you feel about travelling in from the Fraser Valley in order to complete your journey or connect to another flight?

The airport has been serving B.C. for decades, yet there have been very few incidents affecting Richmond.

It is far safer to fly here than it is to drive on Richmond's streets.

Those who choose to live in Richmond need to understand that small carriers are an integral part of the provincial air transportation network.

We have a responsibility to serve the entire province, not just those who travel on major routes.
