Apparently our city council are suffering from a severe attack of "destination frenzy."

They want to make Richmond a destination city of some sort - doesn't matter what - we must have a "destination" something or other.

Maybe a museum, or an old tram.

We rather like that. "Come and visit Richmond's Destination Tram."

I think it's time they and their staff realized that Richmond, as a suburb of Vancouver, will never be a "Destination Anything".

We did once, years ago, have a Destination RV and Camp Ground. Visitors came from all over the world all summer for many years.

It brought a significant amount of money into city coffers, but alas our city fathers thought that an oval would be much more lucrative.

Well, maybe it was for 10 days during the Olympics, but its lustre is now severely tarnished and the cash flow reversed at taxpayers' expense.

One thing you could say - "Come visit our Destination Concrete Jungle of Half-Empty High Rises." We think that should do it.
