Bus loops don't mix with traffic

Open letter to TransLink:

The lack of a proper busloop around the Brighouse Station area is posing a significant problem to cyclists and drivers.

I was biking northbound on No. 3 Road from Granville Avenue today in the bike lane.

As I approached the Brighouse Station, a 430 bus fought with me for space to cross the bike lane to pick up passengers.

The front bumper of the bus was less than a foot away from my rear wheel as the driver pressured me to get out of the way.

But where can I run? A line of stopped buses in front of me blocked my bike lane, preventing me from moving forward.

As a result of this, the bus behind me ended up with the back poking out at the intersection.

What we need is a bus loop that redirects the buses away from space conflicts with both cyclists and drivers.
