Be smart, sign your meter

The Editor,

Re: "Anti-Smart Meter campaigners told to tell province," News, Nov. 9.

As council maintains it's smart meter wariness and citizens' groups mobilize, your recent front page article could use this addendum: "If you really don't want this invasive technology, for whatever reason, don't wait for your provincial politicians to come to your defense. Their hands are tied and by the time you get a response, your meter will already have been aggressively installed behind your back."

Empower yourself by taping a waterproof or laminated signed letter onto your meter to Corix - BC Hydro's contracted henchmen - stating they are not permitted to trespass and install a smart meter.

We did this and when the Corix installer came knocking, I informed him politely that we were not participating and he went on his way, few questions asked.

See citizensforsafetetechnology.org for more information.

Don't wait for your representatives. Represent yourself. Act now to keep this greenwashing tactic out of your domain.
