Agriculture exhibit exceeds expectations

The Editor, I had high hopes for Garden City: Richmond's Agricultural Legacy at the Richmond Museum. The opening reception and exhibit actually exceeded my expectations.

The Editor,

I had high hopes for Garden City: Richmond's Agricultural Legacy at the Richmond Museum. The opening reception and exhibit actually exceeded my expectations.

A well-curated exhibit is a work of art, and this one transforms the museum's compact area in the Richmond Cultural Centre into an experience of our Garden City.

That's the community Richmond was and can still be if positive momentum keeps building in the current tug-ofwar.

In well-chosen words, Mayor Malcolm Brodie fittingly drew attention to the Gilmore Farm, which is coloured green on our Richmond maps, but "Industrial" on Port Metro Vancouver's. As he pointed out, the city can't prevent the port from doing that to almost all of our food-producing land.

On behalf of the Garden City Lands Coalition Society, I urge all citizens to support the mayor and council to stop and reverse that threat to the Garden City.
