Ten per cent of VCH COVID-19 cases in Richmond

About 10 per cent of COVID-19 cases in Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) have been in Richmond, according to Dr. Mark Lysyshyn, deputy chief medical health officer for the health authority.

About 10 per cent of COVID-19 cases in Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) have been in Richmond, according to Dr. Mark Lysyshyn, deputy chief medical health officer for the health authority.

Lysyshyn was answering questions on a Facebook Live session last Thursday, at which time there were about 750 case of the virus in VCH,translating to approximately 75 cases in Richmond.

A VCH spokesperson, however, clarified after the Facebook Live that these numbers are just an “approximation,” especially since, according to Lysyshyn, they added up to 103 per cent (10 per cent in Richmond, 60 per cent in Vancouver, 30 per cent on the North Shore and three per cent in rural areas).

As of Wednesday afternoon, there were 811 test-positive cases of COVID-19 in VCH and a total of 2,087 across the province.

So far, in B.C., 109 people have died.
