Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada will be a free, family-focused, day-long celebration of the countrys greatest passion, all under the ovals roof.

Adding to the occasion will be special appearances by hockey legends including former Canuck Trevor Linden to big screen broadcasts of all seven of Canadas NHL teams in action and a chance for fans to test out their hockey skills with hours of ice hockey, ball hockey and street hockey.

Richmond has a rich hockey tradition and we share all Canadians passion for the sport, so were delighted to be part of this years celebrations of Hockey Day in Canada, said Mayor Malcolm Brodie.

This February marks the second anniversary of the thrilling gold medal victories of our mens and womens hockey teams in the 2010 Games. What better place to celebrate those anniversaries and Canadas love of hockey than in the premier venue of the 2010 Olympics.

People attending the event will be able to enter to win a trip for two to Japan, courtesy of Westjet and Japan Air Lines. Other highlights include: Appearances by other Canucks alumni and mascot Fin.

The Hockey Hall of Fames Legends exhibit will feature memorabilia, interactive experiences and a number of NHL trophies, including the Hart Memorial Trophy awarded to the NHLs most valuable player.

A giant screen with CBC TV broadcasts of games featuring all seven Canadian NHL teams will be on show, along with an interactive fun zone where fans can test their shooting and other hockey skills.

A day-long hockey jamboree on twin Olympic-sized ice sheets will take place, as well as a Nintendo video games section, plus table hockey and air hockey challenges.

There will also be a public entry road hockey tournament on the oval plaza, organized by Urban Rec. and numerous merchandise giveaways, prize draws and fun contests.

Its going to be an unforgettable day in Richmond, where hockey fans of all ages can take part in this rich experience, whether they join us in person or watch the action unfold from home, said David Poole, senior vice president, BC & Yukon Region, Scotiabank.

Doors will open to the public at 10:30 a.m. until 10 p.m.; early entrance at 10 a.m. for Richmond Olympic Oval members and their friends and family by showing their membership card.
