The deadline for property taxes is fast approaching, just in time for the long weekend.

Property owners will need to submit their remittances by Tuesday, July 2. A five per cent penalty will be added to any outstanding taxes if payments are late. The penalty will also be added to any eligible and unclaimed Home Owner Grant.

And if the taxes aren’t paid by Sept. 3, property owners will face another five per cent penalty.

If you haven’t received your 2019 tax notice, you can access your account information online through the MyRichmond portal on the city’s website, or call the tax department at 604-276-4145 between 8:15 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Payments can be made in person or through snail mail, online via credit card or through your bank (but remember that there is at least a two-day processing time if you go this route).
