After extra funding came through, the health authority rejigged its program, causing a delay in opening a community health building in Richmond city centre.

Construction on a community health unit for Richmond kicked off at the end of August.

The construction of the Community Health Access Centre (CHAC) was delayed by a year after extra funding was announced last year. The unit will offer services for frail seniors and adults in the community, support home care and home support services as well as mental health and substance use clients.

With an $800,000 donation from the Richmond Hospital Foundation, the final budget will be $7.1 million.

The anticipated move-in date will be in spring 2020.

The CHAC will be located at 7671 Alderbridge Way. All programs and services being offered at the Anne Vogel Clinic on the second floor will continue to operation as normal.
