Oxfam Canada will be collecting at Richmond Centre this Friday and Saturday in aid of its Emergency Response Fund.

This time, the funds collected will go towards relief in the Philippines after damage done by Typhoon Mangkhut and for damage done by the earthquake and resulting tsunami in Indonesia.

According to Oxfam Canada’s local collector, Carol Rennie, clean water and materials for shelter repair are being distributed in isolated communities in the municipality of Rizal in the Philippines.

In Sulawesi, Indonesia, Oxfam and partner organizations are scaling up their response to support half a million people or more affected by this disaster.

Many people have already been killed and immediate needs in Palu, which has been blocked by a landslide, are ready-to-eat meals, water purification kits and emergency shelters.

The Indonesian Armed Forces are trying to reach these isolated people with supplies.

Rennie and others will be in the mall at the non-profit desk, near guest services, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. both days.
