Richmond is seeking public input on the design of a new Steveston Community Centre, the city announced on Monday.

Over the next few weeks, the city will host open houses and provide an online survey to gather feedback on the concept design of a new community centre and library in Steveston.

“Community facilities play an important role in the delivery of a broad range of services to the public in each of Richmond’s neighbourhoods,” said Mayor Malcolm Brodie in a press release. “Public input will contribute to the development of a facility that will reflect and respond to current and future needs of the community.”

The concept design process includes a needs assessment and the development of a program that will determine the location, size and layout of a new facility. Once the process is complete, a report outlining concept options and costs will likely be brought to city council.

Open houses will take place at the Steveston Community Centre on Feb. 13 (5 p.m. to 8 p.m.) and Feb. 17. (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.). For more details and how to provide input online by Feb. 25, visit www.richmond.ca/steveston.
