NEW YORK — The NHL has upheld its four-game suspension of Calgary Flames defenceman Rasmus Andersson for charging.

Andersson was initially given the ban for charging Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine late in the third period of a game Friday in Columbus.

He was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for elbowing. The Blue Jackets won the game 3-1.

Andersson appealed the suspension and had a hearing with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman on Monday.

The Calgary defenceman's ban will include Sunday's Heritage Classic against the Edmonton Oilers at Commonwealth Stadium.

He will be eligible to return Nov. 4, when the Flames visit the Seattle Kraken.
