Canada beats El Salvador to reach semifinals at FIBA U18 Women's Americas tourney

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — Fatima Diakhate and Emma Koabel had 14 points apiece to lead Canada to a 92-24 rout of El Salvador in quarterfinal play Friday at the FIBA U18 Women's Americas Championship.

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — Fatima Diakhate and Emma Koabel had 14 points apiece to lead Canada to a 92-24 rout of El Salvador in quarterfinal play Friday at the FIBA U18 Women's Americas Championship. 

Cheyenne Rowe chipped in with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The Canadians, who pulled away with a 13-0 run to close the first quarter, will play host Argentina in Saturday's semifinal. Argentina defeated Colombia 64-55.

The United States and Brazil will meet in the other semifinal. The final is scheduled for Sunday.

The quarterfinal victory also qualified Canada for next year's FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup.
