Fifteen-year-old Ryan Nickerson won first place in a photo finish at the 50th Gastown Grand Prix youth race on July 12.

Nickerson - a former Fusion FC and Kajaks athlete, who is training with Escape Velocity’s Team Devo - cycled through a closed circuit course in Vancouver’s historic Gastown with other young competitors during the competition.

The youth race took place shortly before the professional women’s and men’s races in the afternoon.

Cyclists from 13 countries and around 30,000 spectators were at the event’s 50th anniversary, according to Gastown Grand Prix’s website.
