It boasted around 700 games, across 18 different fields and was played over three days.
Suffice to say the first ever coming together of Richmond’s two community soccer clubs to co-host the annual Optimum Eyecare Thanksgiving Tournament was a huge success.
A total of 186 teams played their hearts out over a gloriously sunny long weekend at venues across the city in the event organized by Richmond FC (RFC) and Richmond United (RUSC).
The tournament, said RFC executive director Marius Roevde, “opened the door for a potential future together for RUSC and RFC. We all showed that we can do great things together.”
Roevde referenced a post-match group photo of the two clubs’ U13 teams, adding that it “showed we have more chemistry than ever before. We can and should be one…stronger together.”
