Richmond’s Sandra Malku took home gold and silver at this year’s Special Olympics BC Summer Games.
Malku competed and won silver in the 4x100m relay as well as winning in the 800m race this past weekend.
She and her teammates, along with Richmond resident coach Phoebe Lau were among almost 3,000 participants in the 32nd BC Summer Games that took place in Prince George.
The BC Summer Games are separate from Special Olympics Games, giving athletes the "chance to shine in front of their peers from generic sports, and gain experience at major competitions," according to Special Olympics British Columbia's website.
Prince George is hosting the games for the first time since 1990.
