It was a big weekend on the soccer pitch for Richmond's Amelia Crawford (left) and Emma Kallner as members of the UBC Thunderbirds.

It was the ladies’ turn to provide plenty of Richmond flavor in wins on the soccer pitch for the UBC Thunderbirds.

Hugh Boyd graduates Emma Kallner and Amelia Crawford each scored their first goals of the season as the Thunderbirds extended their win streak to four games with victories against Northern B.C. and McEwan on the weekend.

Crawford recorded her first career hat trick as UBC rolled to a 7-0 win over the Northern B.C. Timberwolves on Friday night in Prince George. The fourth-year forward went to work three minutes into the match with her first goal and added a second just 15 minutes later. She completed the hat trick on a penalty kick in the 79th minute.

Two days later, Kallner stepped up from her backline position in the 69th minute to score the game’s only goal in Edmonton on a free kick from 25-yards out that deflected off the wall and into the net. It was her first goal at the university level, having been a regular in the starting 11 for much of her five-year career.

UBC returns to action Friday when they host UVIC at Thunderbird Stadium at 6 p.m.
