Sammy May is officially a member of the Saskatoon Blades.

The 15-year-old forward from Richmond officially signed with the Western Hockey League club after making an impression during the club’s rookie camp. He was selected in the 11th round (228th overall) in last spring’s WHL Bantam Draft.

“We’re very pleased to have Sammy and his family commit to the WHL and the Saskatoon Blades,” said Dan Tencer, Blades Director of Scouting. “Sammy is a driven individual who plays the game with high pace, high skill, and high tenacity.”

May has spent the past two years in the Delta Hockey Academy including this past season with the top Bantam Green Varsity team where he produced 21 points in 28 games, including 11 goals.

He also was joined by another WHL prospect from Richmond — Jayden Uy (Lethbridge) —  at this summer’s B.C. Hockey U16 provincial camp in Shawnigan Lake. That camp featured 60 players based on performances at the U16 B.C. Cup back in April. It’s all part of the selection process for Team B.C. that will participating in the 2019 Canada Winter Games in February.
