The U13 AA Richmond City Baseball Chuckers won gold at the 2022 Kyle Losse Memorial Tournament in Tsawwassen last weekend.
The event – held in memory of a Delta teen's passing and organized by his parents – was played at Winskill Park in Tsawwassen and Cromie Park in Ladner.
Teams included Richmond, Tsawwassen, Ladner, Vancouver, Vernon, Penticton and Campbell River.
Championship Sunday was rainy and muddy and Richmond played Penticton in the semi-final and were down by two runs in the final half of the last inning.
After scoring one run to get half the deficit, Lucas Yu hit a walk-off two-run homer to win the game and send the Chuckers to the final where they beat the Vernon Canadians after a sparkling pitching effort by Jack Schwartz.
Richmond players Lucas Yu was hitting MVP for the tourney while Maddox Yoo was fielding MVP for the tourney.
