The Richmond Athletics are taking plenty of momentum into Lower Mainland  Baseball Association’s 18+ post-season.

The A’s clinched the Bob Bunnett Division pennant with a 10-4 win over the Vancouver Mounties last Friday at Minoru Park’s Latrace Field.

Their 12-3-1 record was not only good enough for division honours but was also the best among the 20 LMBA 18+ teams, including the Bill Mathers Division.

Aaron Zuzartee paced the attack with a 3-for-4 night that included a double and three RBI. Rhys Verde Rios went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Craig Di Rocco also was 2-for-3, scored twice and drove in a run. All three are Richmond Minor Baseball alumni.

Winning pitcher Kyle Olver worked four scoreless innings — striking out seven. Matt Winograd and Dirk Van Ommen came on in relief.

The Athletics will open the playoffs on Sunday morning at Queen’s Park against the New West Twins.
