Panther Cheer Athletics walked away with four top placings this past weekend at the 7th annual Mardi Parti Cheer Championships held at the Richmond Olympic Oval.
Panthers took eight teams to the event and brought home a trio of first place finishes, two Grand Championship banners and most notably the Pinnacle Cup — won by the Generals junior level two team. The cup is awarded to the highest cumulative scoring team to have attended all three events the company ran this season.
The 2018-19 campaign has been another strong one for all the Panther Cheer teams — two of whom recently attended the Best of the Northwest Championships in Tacoma WA and came back national champions!
Up next, the Senior level 4 team is headed to Dallas to compete in the largest cheerleading competition held in the USA — the NCA National All-Star Cheerleading Championships.
This competition will see tens of thousands of athletes from 43 US States and 10 countries represented. This is the first time a Panther team is attending this event to represent Canada.
Club owners Stephanie Kennedy & Dawn Silver, are incredibly proud of the grit, determination, passion, and dedication all the athletes have demonstrated this season.
“It always brings the coaches such pride to see each of our teams come together and battle hard to hit new stunt combinations, perform new tumbling sequences and to wow the crowd with their outstanding performances. It is always so incredibly satisfying for the athletes and their coaches."
And while Panther Cheer clearly shows excellence on the mat, they are also creating the leaders of tomorrow off of the mat. So far, they have hosted five philanthropic events!
- A blood donor clinic to help Canadian Blood Services.
- Raised funds and participate in the "Light the Night" walk for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society held at Stanley Park
- Attended a downtown shelter and helped serve a warm meal to those in need.
- Organized, raised funds and participate in our annual community 5K "Panther Pups & Puddles walk for RAPS" which was a HUGE success and helped to raise money for the animals in our community
- The "Starts with a Heart" event in which our athletes handmade Valentine cards and deliver them to the elderly in our community.
