The Richmond Kajaks Track and Field Club is co-hosting the third annual and steadily growing Vancouver Sun Jerome Indoor Games Saturday at the Richmond Olympic Oval.

The 320 entries are almost a 100 percent increase from last year. The re-establishment of an indoor track tradition is possible solely because of the legacy from the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. The Olympic Oval was reconstructed to include a flat 200m IAAF approved track facility.

The meet will feature athletes of all ages. Distance events include: 50, 300, 600 and 1,000 metres. There is also a 50 metre hurdles race and a 4x400 relay. There will also be high jump and shot put competitions.

Notable senior athletes in action include UBC's Joy Spear Chief Morris.

The Lethbridge native shocked herself when she ran 7.59 seconds in a 60metre race in Seattle last weekend against some of the top universities on the west coast.

She will be joined by teammates, Sara Hughes and Danielle Douglas in the 60 and 300 metre races. Hughes, another first year recruit out of Calgary, has a personal best of 7.77 seconds and is ranked sixth in Canada in the 60m as a Youth (U18).

UBC decathlete Ivan Staeheli will compete in the 60m hurdles, high jump and shot put. Freshman, Sean McKenzie, from Nanaimo is a new face on the UBC team. He will contest the 300m and will face strong competition from Darcy Achari and Sebastian Adugalski. Trinity Western University's James Linde and Zach Conrad of SFU add spice to the mix in this sprint.

The competition starts at 10: 30 a.m., with opening ceremonies at 2: 40 p.m. and awards at 5: 10 p.m.
