YVR Airport is hosting a plane spotters picnic at Larry Berg Flight Path Park until 8 p.m. to celebrate the arrival of Luftansa’s A350 and the return of larger British Airways Airbus A380, which is scheduled to land at 6:55 p.m.

There are prizes for the best photos posted using the hashtag #YVRAirbusDay.

In a release, Lufthansa says the A350-900 is the world’s most advanced, environmentally-friendly long-haul aircraft producing 25 per cent fewer emissions than comparable models of aircraft.

The A350 will be operated on the daily flights from Vancouver to Munich for the summer season running until Oct. 27.
