Students and graduates of RC Palmer secondary had to see it to believe it when Los Angeles Lakers star Meta World Peace turned up at the school gym last week for a workout.

The 6-foot-7 small forward is in Vancouver this month for a movie shoot and is friends with Palmer senior boys basketball coach Paul Eberhardt and his brother Doug. When World Peace was looking for a gym, the Eberhardts were happy to help out. They put him through a workout then he played one-on-one with former Palmer stars Vijay Dhillon and Mike Zayas. Both were members of the 2011 championship team.

"I had a few of my Palmer guys there for rebounding and to meet him, but with social media by the time we were done the workout there was about 100 people there," laughed Eberhardt.

World Peace, played 12 seasons in the NBA as Ron Artest before legally changing his name last September. During his stay in Vancouver, he has gone out of his way to help out charity organizations, visiting a youth centre in Surrey and playing soccer in the Downtown Eastside.

He is expected to workout with the Eberhardts several more times.
