WorkSafeBC and Richmond RCMP are investigating after a man was killed at a transportation yard in rural east Richmond on Wednesday morning.
Initial reports suggest that the worker at Euro Asia Transload – just west of Blundell and No. 8 roads and close to the Fraser River – was struck by a truck, however the cause is still to be confirmed.
No details have been released by authorities on the worker’s age or if he’s a Richmond resident.
Spokesperson for Richmond-based WorkSafeBC, Trish Knight Chernecki, said that other media reports that the victim was 45-years-old were incorrect.
“The investigation is ongoing; we are interviewing witnesses and the employer will be doing its own investigation and reporting on that,” she added of the incident, which happened around 9 a.m.
Euro Asia’s website states that its main operations are in Richmond, with branches in New Westminster, Surrey and Nanaimo.
