Woman shot in tattoo parlour

Full recovery expected

A woman who was shot while in a tattoo parlor appears to have been an innocent bystander.

Richmond RCMP believe the woman, taken to hospital Friday night after the incident at the Capstan Way strip mall, was in the "wrong place at the wrong time."

The woman was said Monday to be in a serious, but stable condition and was expected to make a full recovery.

"There is a report going around that the victim has taken a turn for the worse. That's not the case," said Richmond RCMP's Sgt. Cam Kowalski.

"We are 99 per cent certain that she is an innocent victim here and she was not targeted.

Multiple shots were fired around 8 p.m. in Floating Shop Tattoo Parlor at 8388 Capstan Way.

Police are still trying to figure out the motive, not ruling out whether or not the tattoo parlor was the intended target.

"We're not saying it has nothing to do with the parlor, we're still following a number of possibilities," added Kowalski.

"We're not sure either whether it was a botched robbery, it could be about a half dozen things at the moment.

"We're still looking for additional witnesses as we're getting conflicting stories so far from people we've spoken to."

After the shots were fired, the suspect or suspects fled the scene prior to police arriving.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Richmond RCMP at 604 278 1212. If you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
