It’s a blustery day out there, and a wind warning has been issued for Richmond and other parts of the Lower Mainland.

According to Environment Canada, there is a “passage of a vigorous front” that is giving strong winds gusting up to 80 kilometres per hour.

Winds are expected to weaken through the afternoon and become much less intense by the evening.

“Local power outages and downed trees are possible,” the warning states.

The City of Richmond is reminding residents to “be cautious during this time as trees/debris may fall or loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury/damage.”

The city adds that storm-related emergencies such as traffic signals not working, hazardous or downed trees on streets, sidewalks or in public parks should be reported to the city’s 24-hour dispatch line at 604-270-8721.
