The odds for snow being on the ground in Richmond during Christmas will surely have tumbled with some of the white stuff expected to fall locally on Tuesday and Thursday.

Whether it will stick around long enough to see Christmas Day next Monday remains to be seen, but forecasters are now predicting a few centimetres of snow mixed with rain later Tuesday and Thursday.

According to Environment Canada, periods of rain mixed with snow is expected Tuesday afternoon, just in time for the evening commute.

A sunny Wednesday may melt any accumulation, but more wet snow is expected to drift into Metro Vancouver on Thursday with a 70 per cent chance of seeing something white falling.

Sunshine and cold temperatures are then forecast in the last few days before Christmas.
