Feng Qin Zhou has been missing since around 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20. Richmond RCMP are asking for assistance locating her.

Volunteers have recorded a voice message from the daughter of an elderly woman missing for five days, and they are playing it in the streets trying to find her.

Caryn Zhang is the volunteer group organizer trying to help find Feng Qin Zhou, a 75-year-old Asian woman who police say may be confused or dazed.

The volunteers have been out searching for five days in Richmond, but now they hope more Richmondites will pay attention to any elder who is wandering in the streets and seems lost.

Police have been searching for the woman, who only speaks Mandarain, around the clock, along with several police units, search and rescue, the coast guard and the city.

Zhou is five feet, two inches tall, has white hair and  brown eyes. She was wearing a pink long-sleeved shirt, long black hooded coat, black pants and pink shoes.

She was last seen in the 7000 block of Firbridge Way, close to City Centre Community Centre, on Wednesday, Nov. 20.

Police have received tips from the public and are going through video footage trying to find her whereabouts.

“We are working around the clock to locate Mrs. Zhou. We really appreciate the continued assistance from our community partners and the outpouring of support from the community,” said Insp. Sunny Parmar, Operations Officer with the Richmond RCMP. “If anyone has seen Mrs. Zhou, please contact your local police immediately.”

Zhou’s daughter, Julie Zhou, said she appreciates the RCMP’s quick reaction and investigation, giving her hope “that there will be a promising good news for my mom in near future.”

She said she’s also grateful for the volunteers who have been helping to find her mother.

“I never imagined that there are so many people in Greater Vancouver that have provided me so many unselfish contributions,” she said. “I also appreciate everyone who has cared about my mom and all witness who provided me with valuable information about my missing mom to the RCMP.”

Police are actively looking in south Richmond.

The Richmond RCMP has been joined by the Lower Mainland Tactical Troop, the dog unit, the emergency response team, Integrated Air Services and search and rescue teams in looking for Zhou.
