Learning ways to manage pain and anxiety during COVID-19 is what one medical professional hopes to teach Richmond residents this week.

Richmond Women’s Resource Centre is launching a new virtual Women Speaker Series and Dr. Leora Kuttner, a clinical psychologist, will lead their first presentation.

Kuttner, a pioneer in treating pediatric pain and anxiety, will kick off the series with an interactive presentation titled “Pain and Anxiety Management in the Time of Covid” on Dec. 10.

The 45-minute presentation will be followed by a question and answer session.

Kuttner has implemented pain management programs for children and parents at BC Children’s Hospital; she has also taught pediatric professionals internationally.

Mary Scott, past present of the Richmond Women’s Resource Centre, called Kuttner’s previous guidance an “amazing opportunity.”

“I remember what a positive impact her teaching had on my nursing practice,” said Scott, who previously worked as a nurse at the BC Cancer Agency.

“I for one am very interested in what she will say. In this uncertain time of COVID her guidance is timely.”

The event will take place Dec. 10 at 11 a.m. and registration is required.
