Did anyone else see the fire?

A “small fire” on a barge didn’t stop the fireworks show during the Steveston Salmon Festival on Saturday night.

Halfway through the fireworks show on July 1, a fire was spotted on the barge from where the fireworks were being set off.

The barge was situated between Imperial Landing and Shady Island with the fireworks celebrating the closing of the Steveston Salmon Festival.

City spokesperson Clay Adams confirmed there was a “small fire on the barge,” but the fire was “quickly extinguished in keeping with standard safety procedures.”

“Other than that, the fireworks went off without a hitch,” said Adams.
