Coquitlam RCMP is looking for dash cam video or any witnesses who saw a single-vehicle collision on the Brunette on-ramp to westbound Highway 1 early Monday morning.

The incident sent a 30-year-old Surrey woman to hospital with serious injuries. She was a passenger in the vehicle that police said was being driven by a 34-year-old man from Anmore. He was also transported to hospital but is expected to make a full recovery.

Photos shot from a traffic helicopter and posted to social media appeared to show a pickup truck or SUV rolled over with debris strewn along the shoulder for several metres.

Both the westbound on- and off-ramps, as well as the Brunette overpass, were closed for more than eight hours as the RCMP’s criminal collision investigation team did its work. Speed is believed to have been a contributing factor, said a press release issued by Coquitlam RCMP. Drugs or alcohol have also not been ruled out, it added.

The overpass and ramps were reopened by 9 a.m.

If you witnessed the crash, or have any information about circumstances leading up to it, call the Coquitlam RCMP’s non-emergency number at 604-945-1550 and quote file 2020-21967.
