Two 11-year-old girls who had gone missing, sparking a Richmond RCMP hunt, were found safe on Monday night.
Emily Whitewood and Daniella Murphy were last seen travelling together on Sunday around 5 p.m..
However, their parents only contacted the Mounties early on Monday afternoon to say the two girls were missing. It’s unknown why it took so long for the girls’ disappearance to be reported.
Richmond RCMP thanked the media and the public for their assistance, adding that the response via social media, specifically Twitter, was "tremendous."
