Reports of shots being fired in a residential area has sparked Richmond Mounties into appealing to the public for information.

RCMP responded to the area of Blundell Road and Colonial Drive, just west of Railway Avenue, around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday after being told of gunfire.

Upon arrival at the scene, a housing complex, police were able to confirm that at least one shot was fired due to a single shell casing on the ground.

The only lead Mounties have so far is that a dark coloured vehicle was spotted departing the scene at high speed.

“There are no injuries that we know of and there doesn’t appear to be a motive at this time,” said Richmond RCMP’s media liason officer, acting Cpl. Dennis Hwang.

“We are still investigating at this time and are canvassing the area. We ask that anyone with information to please contact us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information should call 604-278-1212, email [email protected] or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
