Three Richmond communities experienced power outages due to a wind storm on Tuesday morning.

BC Hydro reported around 11 a.m. that 18 residents in the area east of Seavale Road, west of Seabright Road, north of Seaton Road and south of Seaport Ave are without power due to the storm. Crews have not yet been assigned.

Meanwhile, 9800 block of Greenless Road has less than five customers without power since 11:48 a.m. Crews have also not been assigned.

An earlier outage caused by a fallen tree left 84 BC Hydro customers in the area west of Aspin Drive, north of Dayton Avenue, south of Blundell Road and east of Heather Street. Power has since been restored in this area.

Environment Canada issued a weather statement on Monday morning of strong wind currents of up to 90km/h to hit the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island on Tuesday.

The weather statement officially ended at 1:30 p.m. as winds have calmed down.
