One of the two young Richmond men who died in a horrific Lions Gate Bridge crash has been named as 21-year-old Jowin Chat-Kit Lau.
Lau was the passenger in the Mazda 6 that spun out of control in the bridges northbound lane last Wednesday night before plowing head-on into transit bus.
Although police havent officially named the driver of the car, other media outlets and social media sites report that 20-year-old Tom Liao was behind the wheel at the time.
Its understood Liaos family are arriving from outside the country.
Floral tributes and messages have been laid on a walkway on the bridge by friends of the men.
West Vancouver Police believe speed was a factor in the crash with the bus, which had 15 passengers on board.
They said that just before midnight, the young mens northbound car spun into the southbound lane and slammed into the oncoming bus.
Police said the car was demolished by the crash, with the passenger side flattened into the area behind the drivers seat.
A third car trying to avoid the crash struck the wreck. No one in that vehicle was seriously hurt, police said.
One man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was taken to hospital and died shortly after from injuries.
Police say it's too early to tell whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the tragic incident.
