Two young Richmond drivers were among the three suspected of racing their high-end cars on Highway 1 last weekend.
The drivers only one of which actually had a license and even that was for a learner apparently alarmed other motorists around 6:30 p.m. last Sunday between Langley and Abbotsford.
The vehicles a black 2013 Porsche Panamera, a white 2012 BMW 750 and a white 2013 BMW M5 were reported to be travelling between 130 and 160 km/hour.
Police received reports that the vehicles were weaving through traffic and using the right hand shoulder to overtake other cars, said Corp. Rob McDonald, of the Lower Mainland District Traffic Services.
Police officers with Port Mann Traffic Services staged themselves on 176th Street on-ramp and observed as the vehicles sped past.
All three drivers were stopped and all three vehicles were impounded for seven days and the drivers were issued 15 days driving prohibitions and violation tickets for speed related offence and driving without consideration.
This type of driving behavior is unacceptable and presents a huge risk to other drivers. I want to thank the public who quickly notified police, so we were able to take these drivers immediately off the road, added McDonald.

Its not the first time young Richmond drivers have been suspected of racing high-end sports cars on the highway.
Two years ago, 13 young drivers, many of whom were from Richmond, has their luxury performance vehicles seized after an alleged street-racing incident on Highway 99.
The drivers of the vehicles met at Lansdowne Centre and conspired to engage in street racing while they drove to South Surrey, on Highway 99.
Their actions led to calls for their parents to be named and shamed, as most of the $200,000 plus cars belonged to the drivers parents.
