Around 7:30 p.m., police were called to Sweden Way and Bridgeport Road after two pedestrians, aged 42 and 48, were struck by a southbound vehicle.

Witnesses say the women were walking south on Sweden Way, crossing Bridgeport Road in a marked crosswalk when they were struck by a vehicle turning left onto Bridgeport.

The women, from Vancouver, were taken to hospital in stable condition with non life-threatening injuries.

Visibility was poor at the time due to rain and both women were wearing dark, non-reflective clothing. The driver told police she didnt see either pedestrian. Neither speed or alcohol are factors in the collision.
