Concern over the spreading coronavirus (COVID-19) has resulted in three spring break trips to be cancelled for Richmond students. All three trips included part of the travel to Italy, explained school superintendent Scott Robinson.
“These decisions were not made lightly, however student and staff safety must remain our priority at all times,” he said in a release.
The school district will continue to monitor field trips for the rest of the school year and will inform parents if other trips are cancelled.
Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) recommends anyone who has travelled to Iran, Hubei province in China and Italy self-isolate for 14 days after returning to Canada.
Thirty-two cases of coronavirus have been diagnosed in B.C. and one person has died in a care home on the North Shore.
