Crews were doing final preparations on a multi-use pathway before it gets paved.

Traffic was once again diverted on Thursday morning around trucks on Alderbridge Way between Shell and No. 4 roads as the first part of a multi-use pathway was being prepared for paving.

Construction on the three-metre wide pathway has been on-going all fall on the north side of Alderbridge between No. 4 Road and Fisher Drive – across from the DND Lands - and the next step will be lighting and paving.

The 400-metre-long pathway is expected to be completed by the end of December.

The second phase – a continuation of the multi-use pathway from Fisher Drive to Shell Road - of the project is expected to be done next year.

The multi-use pathway is designed to be shared by pedestrians and cyclists.

The entire project is co-funded by TransLink and will cost about $1.2 million.

The pathway is meant to connect to the Shell Road Trail at the eastern end and an existing pathway west of No. 4 Road on Alderbridge.
