Country Farm opened its annual pumpkin patch, which is now open daily until Oct. 31. The first weekend attracted a record 15,000 people swarming the patch looking for their prize pumpkin. The Pumpkin Princess takes a twirl in celebration.

The River Rock Casino Resort (left, page 28) won the prestigious award for Luxury Casino Hotel in Canada at the 5th Annual World Luxury Hotel Awards held recently in Kuala Lumpur.
"Our staff offers exceptional service in a luxury setting, but we are always trying to outdo ourselves and stay current," said Howard Blank, vice president, communications for the casino.
It's the feedback from those guest ballots that nominated the River Rock, the only luxury casino hotel in the country to receive this industry award.
Richmond Community Living Society is holding an art show at city hall until Oct. 22. Work by members, such as Ben Sargeant, will be on display in the foyer.

The Rotary Hospice House is a project of the Rotary Club of Richmond in partnership with the Salvation Army. Several rotar-ians helped serve Thanksgiving dinner to the families at the Rotary Hospice House on Oct. 6.
