Police are on the hunt for a serial fraudster after he tried to dupe someone in Richmond.

Richard Earl Rupert, 56, is wanted for multiple counts of fraud by police agencies all across Canada.

On Feb. 14, Richmond RCMP received a call that a member of the public was approached by Rupert, who allegedly tried to convince her that he was a family member and needed money for emergency car repairs.

The woman became suspicious and notified police. Unfortunately, Rupert left the area before being spoken to by police.

It's believed that in early December 2012, Rupert allegedly approached another victim who handed over to him an undisclosed sum of money after believing the money was needed to repair a family member's vehicle.

Rupert is described as a white male, between 5'5 and 5'6 tall and between 140 and 160 lbs.

He has dirty blonde and grey hair with a receding hairline.

He's clean-shaven, has a pockmarked face with chis-eled cheekbones, a large nose and a ruddy (reddish) complexion.

Rupert is known to usually target the elderly and will allegedly seek his victims in apartment buildings, senior centers, shopping centers and anywhere else he can approach elderly victims.

Anyone with information on Rupert's whereabouts is asked to contact police on 604 278 1212 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800222-8477.

Driver nabbed for speeding after getting licence back

Two days after getting his driver's licence back, a 20-year-old Richmond man has once again had his Audi impounded.

Police say the man, whose name has not been released, is the same person who was among 13 drivers who had their luxury vehicles impounded for excessive speeding in August 2011.

The latest incident happened Friday on Highway 1, when the driver was spotted by Abbotsford police travelling at speeds between 160 and 170 km/h.
